Woman arrested for the murder of co-wife’s 4-day-old baby
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old woman, Furera Abubakar, for the murder of her co-wife’s four-day-old baby in Bantu village, Ningi Local Government area of the state.
The suspect is alleged to have applied a liquid insecticide called Gramalin on the unhealed umbilical cord of the newborn, leading to the baby’s death.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 19, 2023, just days to the scheduled naming ceremony of the child.
The police statement said that the suspect was arrested after a complaint was filed by the baby’s mother.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged to court at the end of investigations.
