Teenage Herder Arrested for Allegedly Amputating Farmer’s Hand in Bauchi
A 15-year-old herder, Adamu Ibrahim, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly amputating a farmer’s hand following a disagreement.
The suspect is said to have trespassed into the victim’s farmland on several occasions while rearing his cows. The victim, who has not been named, had complained to the suspect’s father about the intrusion, but the complaints were ignored.
On August 24, 2023, the suspect allegedly invaded the victim’s farmland again, this time armed with a stick and machete. He destroyed a yet-to-be-ascertained value of crops.
When the victim confronted the suspect and asked him to leave his land, the suspect allegedly stabbed him and chopped off his left hand.
The police were alerted and they arrested the suspect. The victim has been taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, for medical treatment. He is said to be responding to treatment.
The police have said that they are investigating the matter and that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is complete.
