Youngest brother of IPOB leader, Emmanuel Kanu may have been arrested and is being detained by the Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on the orders of the Inspector General of Police over his involvement in the assault occasioning harm, in which two ladies were severely beaten up while a vehicle belonging to one of them was burnt down in the attack.

Recall that barely a fortnight ago, the two ladies, Doris Ogala and her lady friend Chinasa Mbanafor, were severely assaulted in their family house along the ring road the state government started its construction three months ago as the burial of the late traditional ruler of the community came close.

The assailants on sighting the lady and her visitor had descended on them both, with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, a log of woods, as well as blocks while the vehicle parked on the road under construction, first got looted and then smashed before it was set ablaze by the youths suspected to be IPOB members and who had accompanied the youngest brother of Nnamdi Kanu who holds sway here as the anchorperson, and the erstwhile President General of the Community, Ikechukwu Ndubeze among others, to the scene of the ugly incident.

Although the victims while still wriggling in pains at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, the duo delivered a letter evicting the family from further inhabitation of their bonafide property in the community with immediate effect as against the decision of the elders of the land. The traditional ruling cabinet of the community, led by the Traditional Prime Minister, and who the constitution left with the running of the kingdom until a new Traditional Ruler emerges, Chief Chimechefulam Odoemenam had all in one expressed concern over the excesses of Emmanuel Kanu in the community even as they alleged that he wants to forcefully get all Cabinet and Exco members of the community development union as IPOB members even as they asked the security agencies, Abia State as well as the Federal Government to look into the crisis bedeviling the community before it becomes blood chilly.

Speaking to this reporter also, Kingsley Nwabueze Nwokoukwu who alleged that the youngest brother of Nnamdi Kanu, Emmanuel and his thugs in IPOB wounded his wife in 2017 stated that the lady in question had got the permission of Zone 9 Police Command to increase their fence after thieves scaled through it some time ago, and it was while the project is still going on that, “they went there, assaulted this lady with her visitor, burnt down a vehicle and goods and scattered the house and there was a commotion in the whole village. This is a family our community has not had any issue with since their late father purchased and built upon this land.
We don’t want terrorism in our community, but Emma Powerful said over his dead body. He goes about boasting that every member of the Development Union must be installed by IPOB so as to water the ground for their training and operations in the community. He, in fact, said the police is in his pocket and as you can see, up till now, there have been no arrests over the assault on the two ladies and their property”.

When the victims sensed that the State Police Command may be compromising for whatever reason, they took their petition to Force Headquarters, Abuja where the office of the Inspector General of Police ordered for the immediate arrest and detention of the duo of the self-acclaimed acting traditional ruler and the former President General and our investigation reveals that it was based on that order that Emmanuel Kanu and Ikechukwu Ndubeze were arrested and detained.
Our further investigation gathered that their hope of using their inside contact at the State Police Command, met brick walls as the newly posted Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede was said to have switched off her cellphone at some point so that she won’t be dragged into a matter the Force Headquarters has already indicated interest in the matter.
