Video: “Your Father Is Old, and the People Around Him, Their Brains Are Dusty with Cobwebs” — VeryDarkMan Tells Seyi Tinubu

The social media space in Nigeria was recently ignited with controversy following a blunt remark by popular online personality, VeryDarkMan, aimed at Seyi Tinubu, the son of Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The statement, “Your father is old, and the people around him, their brains are dusty with cobwebs,” has quickly gone viral, sparking intense debates about the state of leadership in Nigeria.

After spending several hours in China and witnessing its extraordinary progress in technology and innovation, VeryDarkMan published a video message directed at the president, his son Seyi Tinubu, and the president’s close associates.

In his address, he argued that Nigeria’s advancement is being obstructed by the outdated mindset of the senior leadership, who he claims lack the foresight to introduce transformative, innovative ideas. He singled out Seyi Tinubu, emphasizing that as a young individual with direct access to power, Seyi possesses a unique chance to effect real change.

VeryDarkMan urged Seyi to take note of the developments happening around the world and to advocate for similar progress in Nigeria. In part of his speech, he stated:

“Seyi Tinubu, I feel compelled to tell you this: your father is advanced in years, and those surrounding him are steeped in outdated thinking.”

He continued, “I’m not trying to offend, but my point is clear. You are the closest the youth have ever been to the center of power, and there is so much you could help us achieve.”

“My time in China opened my eyes to endless opportunities that Nigeria could emulate. Frankly, it seems like we need a system to bring every Nigerian here and then return them home, just so they can truly see what’s possible.”

“There is immense potential in Nigeria that is being wasted because the older leaders fail to recognize it—but you, Seyi Tinubu, have the privilege of witnessing it firsthand.”

As the video circulated online, many individuals flooded the comment section with their reactions and opinions. For instance:

• @sami_oamen remarked, “China cannot become a world power when Mandarin is spoken in only a few countries and the U.S. dollar remains dominant. Language and currency are key factors in achieving global power.”

• @JacobAmeh6 commented, “I hope you have adequate security to protect you, if you know what I mean. I’m saying this out of genuine concern.”

• @ayowole_obi observed, “He makes some solid points, but I don’t agree with his views on the president’s associates. Some of them are performing well, while others are not.”

• @chillywills23 added, “I hope Tinubu receives this message without feeling disrespected. I sincerely hope he takes action.”

• @savinha noted, “American investors provided funding to some youths, who then misused it. The problems in this country run deep.”
