Senator demands Buhari’s head-Abaribe

Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, The Senate Minority Leader on Wednesday clamored for the immediate resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari over His inability to curtail the spike of insecurity in te Nation.

The Abia South senator made the call on Wednesday while contributing to a motion sponsored by the Majority Leader, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi. Abdullahi’s motion centered on rising insecurity in the country.

Abaribe described the Buhari administration’s attitude towards insecurity in the country as astonishing, saying that the president has proved incapable of solving the challenges.

Abaribe spoke after the Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, presented his motion on rising security challenges in the country.

He also called out the presidential media aide, Femi Adesina, for referring to the Christian Association of Nigeria as a political party for condemning killings by Boko Haram.

“Those who live by propaganda will die by propaganda,” Abaribe said.

Nigerians did not elect the Chief of Staff, Nigerians did not elect heads of Security, Nigerians elected President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and in 2019.

“As it is, we are facing the head of the Nigerian government and this is President Buhari. He should resign with immediate effect,” Abaribe said.

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, also appealed to his colleagues to approach the issue with caution.
The Red Chamber senators have set aside Wednesday to discuss security challenges in the country that have seen attacks by Boko Haram, kidnappers and so-called “bandits” increase, especially in the northern part of the country.
On Tuesday, Mr Buhari said he was surprised at the growing insecurity, and said his government will be “harder” on bandits.
