Sadio Mane, Liverpool forward, has been tipped to become the second African star to win the Ballon d’Or by Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse.
The Senegal superstar was recently named the best player in Africa after helping his club win the Champions League last season.
Mane was fourth in the 2019 Ballon d’Or edition behind Lionel Messi, Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo.
And former Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse believes Sadio Mane can do the unthinkable and become the second African star to scoop the world’s best player award after Liberia current president and football legend George Weah.
“Mane is doing very well at Liverpool and I knew he would make it to the top — but he can do even more.
“If you are doing something like this and reaching these levels then you cannot stop, you need to push again to show you can do even more.
“Every time we speak on the phone I tell him ‘You can do it, you can become the very best. Believe in yourself,” Cisse told the Sun. Sadio Mane has been instrumental to Liverpool’s quest to win their first Premier League trophy in over 30 years as they lead the pack with 14 points
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Sadio Mane, Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk are among five Liverpool stars added to the UEFA Fans Team of the Year. The likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Kevin De Bryune, Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs de Ligt were also voted by fans.
