Okada riders burns Lagos government van in Iyana-Ipaja

Following the incident that occurred on Monday, February 3rd when commercial Okada riders clashed with the Nigeria Police Force where shots were fired at Ijora-Costain.

In the early hours of today, Monday 5th February before 10 am at Iyana-Ipaja, Protesting bike riders set a Lagos govt van on fire; it took the heavy combination of heavily armed policemen to curb the violent protest regarding the ban of Okadas and Tricycles in the State by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

At Alaguntan Iyana-Ipaja, hoodlums invaded the LASU-IGANDO Expressway, destroyed various properties and vandalized cars. Police officials stormed the scene urging Banks to shut down as well as stores to close down, firing live bullets in the air.

This caused a huge pandemonium in the Alimosho Local Government.

A truck belonging to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) was burnt in Aboru another community in Iyana-Ipaja.

An eyewitness claimed the LASTMA van was pushed to one side of the road by the commercial riders and then set it ablaze.

These happened when a government task force van tormented Okada riders by seizing their bikes even when the ban of Okada was not to affect Alimosho Local Government.

At the moment, peace is back reigning in Iyana-Ipaja and Alimosho Local Government at large.
