In Katsina State, a small number of policemen,30, secures up to 100 villages. We all know that Katsina is among the states in Nigeria suffering from numerous wanton killings and various criminal activities caused by terrorists.
According to The Nation,Governor of Katsina, Aminu Masari made it known that the state would alter its laws to deliver competency to all village heads likewise local authorities in the fight towards muggers. The Emir of Katsina Abdulmumin Usman expressed his concern and upset-ness about the issue by suggesting to Masari to also deliver dynamic delegation from Katsina to the president of the country,Muhmmadu Buhari to address the issue at hand.
Muggery and other various crimes are being checked by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) ready to insatall unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Katsina and other Northwest and Northeast states.
During a luncheon by NAF in honor of the Muslim Festive Eid-El-Kabir with front line troops in Katsina, Masari rued saying the number of policemen protecting the villages are “gross inadequate” due to the fact that the number of looters is now stimulated.
“This would complement the attempt in progress to produce strong community policing structure,facing the gross deficit in the number of police personnel available at local levels, which is in the range of an average of about 30 policemen to about 100 villages.”
“When there is no good governance and ample policy, a new generation of criminals would rise up to take over even when the military has cleared up all bandits, looters and muggers.”
“The communities are mixed with bandits, it will be tough work for NAF or the Army to differentiate culprits from innocent locals in order to conduct offensive operations devoid of collateral damage. Furthemore, criminals must be denied information or sanctuary from the locals”.All these statements was made by the Governor of Katsina,Aminu Masari.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, revealed that it has been concluded to utilize UAVs in Katsina and Gusau in the Zamfara states in order to effect immediate stop to the numerous attacks in the Northwest and Northeast.
During a special prayer session for members of the three arms of government in the state, Masari was asked by Emir Usman to bring about meeting to President Buhari of esteemed citizens in Katsina to give opinions and lay out their thoughts on the dilemma faced by the state.
According to The Nation,Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) urged the Federal Government to put an end to the wanton killings and criminal elements in southern Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, Taraba and Adamawa states.
ECWA also told the government to make sure they put an end to the unjust activities of the bandits and other various criminal acts in Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, and other states in the northern part of the country.
ECWA handed over a statement at the end of a meeting held in Jos, Plateau State on Sunday. The meeting was a General Church Council (GCC) conference.
“Council has noticed with serious concern and worry on the wanton attacks of criminals, armed men and bandits across the country, mostly in the northern states.
“These heartless group of people found joy in to ending and destroying lives, farmlands and property of innocent citizens in southern Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, Zamfara, Kogi, Adamawa, Katsina, Taraba and Niger states.”
