Nine Children Rescued from Forced Initiation into Cultism in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has rescued nine children who were being forced into cultism in the Mushin area of the state. The children, who were between the ages of nine and fourteen, had incisions on their lower lips.
The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the children were rescued after a tip-off from a concerned citizen. He said the police are investigating the matter and that the children will be reunited with their families.
Hundeyin called for the strengthening of family units to prevent children from being forced into cultism. He said that strong family units can provide children with the support they need to resist peer pressure and to make good choices.
