His victory came with a bigger price bonus when his 2:10:23 mark was 4 mins 41 seconds faster the previous record set by Abraham Kiprotich in 2018.

The marathon which has been fully supported by Access Bank starting from 2016 kicked off in front of the National Stadium, Surulere and the finish line located at the Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island, a 42-kilometre race.
Among the roads sealed for the event which takes place annually were Osborne road, the Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki/Ikoyi link bridge and Parkview.
An Ethiopian, Sintayehu Legese was the previous winner of the marathon finishing with a time of 2:17:28.
Some public personalities such as Ex Super-Eagles midfielder, Austin ”Jay-Jay’ Okocha parcitipated in the race along side Osaro Eghomien (SAN).
The grand prize of $50,000 will be rewarded to Tumo and it was said that there will be an additional $20,000 as a bonus for setting another record.
His fellow Kenyan female athlete, Sharon Jemutai Cherop was the first female to cross the finish line eclipsing the previous record set by Rodah Jpekorir by 6mins 12 seconds.
