Lady dies in Lagos hospital during child birth due to hospital negligence

 

Medville Global Health Centre located at Ago palace way in Okota Lagos State was shut down by the Lagos state government due to the accusation that was made by a man saying the hospital management caused his wife to die during labour.

The Executive Secretary of the Health facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), Abiola Idowu, says following the investigation that was carried out by the team revealed that the hospital was not registered under HEFAMAA and that it had inadequate personnel.

After the accusations that were made by Chibuike Nwachukwu of the hospital’s incompetency which leads to the death of his wife during childbirth, and the investigation made by the Agency leads to the shutdown of the facility, located at Ago Palace Way in the Okota axis of the state.

The man was angry and said the hospital persuaded his wife to speed up the delivery but didn’t give birth after 10 hours.

A series of procedures were performed on his wife, According to him, the 28-year-old lady died while the baby was saved. Meanwhile, he said the baby is currently in the Intensive Care Unit of another hospital as he insisted that his wife died as a result of the incompetence of the doctors.

Solanke Koya, chairman of HEFAMAA board, has ordered the agency to take a full-scale investigation to uncover the facts surrounding the death of Mchaty’s wife.

The agency said they took a critical decision in shutting down the facility “in furtherance of public protection pending the final outcome of the ongoing investigations.”
