IG of Police Form new unit to replace SARS, recalls all operatives to Headquarters

Mohammed Adamu, who happens to be the Inspector General (IG) of Police has set to bring a new unit to replace the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars).

The Force spokesman, Frank Mba, on Tuesday has confirmed in his statement that the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) will fill up the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars) space ordered by IG.

Frank has confirmed that Mohammed Adamu (IG) has ordered all the disused SARS to report to their Force Headquarters in Abuja for questioning, medical and psychological checkup.

All the officer’s personnel are expected to pass through this mentioned process as a preparation to further their training and reorientation before being reemployed into policing duties.

The newly set up Police Counseling and Support Unit (PCSU) will carry out the health and medical examinations of each Sars personnel.

It also states that “the IGP newly set up Force “Special Weapons and Tactics” (SWAT) team will cover up and fill the space of the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars).

“All members of the new team will also go through the same medical and psychological examination to check their eligibility and fitness for their new assignment.”
