On Wednesday, May 4, Embattled super cop, Abba Kyari reportedly escaped [email protected] in Kuje prison after he was attacked by his fellow inmates.
The inmates accused him of collecting bribe from them to secure their release when he was in active service, but failed to fulfil his end of the bargain.
Kyari was also accused of eliminating smaller drug dealers from the field to create a wider market for Afam Ukatu – a suspected billionaire drug baron behind the N3 billion Tramadol deal linked to Mr Kyari.
According to Premium Times, Kyari had earlier paid each of the inmates N200,000 to appease them, and bought DSTV subscriptions for cells to buy their loyalty and peace.
However, the aggrieved inmates have continued to threaten the life of the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police.
“Regardless of the level of protection, they vowed to get him. The inmates have given him an ultimatum to return all he extorted from them or be k#lled. Relevant officials have assessed that he will be k#lled or badly injured if he continues to be remanded in Kuje.” a source was quoted as saying.
According to PremiumTimes, The Prison Officials are already making plans to move the suspended Intelligence Response Team leader, Abba Kyari, from Kuje prison where he is currently detained to the custody of the State Security Service (SSS), also known as the Department of State Services (DSS).
Kyari was arrested in February over his involvement in drug trafficking deals, and attempting to bribe an NDLEA official with $61,000 to facilitate the release of seized cocaine.
